The BULATS, or Business Language Testing System, is a language evaluation test that will allow Spanish in Chile participants to not only measure the amount of Spanish that they have learned, but also to describe it on a quantitative level to a future employer or university.

BULATS measures reading, listening, and writing skills, specifically in a business context, and is recognized by organizations in over 30 countries. The test is certified by Cambridge ESOL, an internationally recognized organization. BULATS gives volunteers a quantifiable measure of their language abilities and offers them credibility when interviewing with future employers. English Opens Doors, of the Chilean Ministry of Education, is now an official administrator of the BULATS test, helping volunteers to measure and market the Spanish they learned during their time in Chile.

Spanish in Chile participants will be given two opportunity to take the BULATS - once at the beginning of the course, and then again at the end of the course. Participants will receive an official certificate which indicates their Spanish level after taking the final exam.
