Lodging and Host Families
During the 3 week period of Spanish classes, the program will provide Chilean host families for all participants. The host family environment is a great way for participants to:
- Practice their Spanish
- Integrate into the community
- Learn first-hand about Chile’s people and culture
These families come in all forms, and live all around the city of Santiago. A host family may consist of:
- A married couple with children
- An older couple whose children have left home
- A single mother
- Young professionals without children
In general, host families consist of any arrangement of individuals who have applied to receive a volunteer and are eager to share their culture with a foreigner.
Families will provide food for all meals that are eaten at home (meals that are eaten during program activities will be provided by Spanish in Chile), as well as a private room for participants.
